Every now and then something happy runs at you out of nowhere and completely bowls you over. I'm not talking about your neighbor's dog, which can also be something happy that bowls you over. I'm talking about just a random happy surprise. I had just such an experience this past weekend.
I won a local contest, up out of nowhere, by random drawing! There was a contest for Valentine's Day and I entered it, never even fantasizing that I might win. I'm usually pretty upbeat about contests, because I tend to win them. I think it's my irrepressible positive thinking at work there... but I digress...
Anyway, I won the following spectacular array of awesomeness: A very nice and expensive bottle of wine from Argentina, a spa day, complete with full body massage and a 1 hour facial, a salon day, complete with a "hair make-over" which is a cut, custom color, deep conditioning treatment, "hair design" and a blow dry, hair day worth 250 bucks, a $100 gift card to a nice restaurant, 2 hour consultation with a professional organizer, a $200 photo session with a photographer, a 30 day "boot camp" program at a local gym (they're gonna try to kill me), plus there were Lindt truffles, a big hershey kiss, a bunch of snicker bars and some reeses peanut butter hearts in the gift bag. What a haul!
I just made my appointment for the massage and facial. Can't wait. Can. not. wait. I need to make my hair appointment. I've never needed a hair makeover more than right now. I've been wanting to do something with my fuzz and it will be nice to have a professional who knows what she's doing advise me and carry it out. There's no telling what I'm going to let her do to my head. hehe
Of course, I've had people instructing me to save the wine for their next visit, save the dinner card, etc. Bink graciously offered to drink up my wine, eat up my food, and then take her dog to collect on my photo shoot. Good ole Bink is always willing to lend a hand.
I cannot express to you all how much I am enjoying my forced sabbatical. I fear this is ruining me for working. I did some earnest job looking today, because eventually I'll have to work again, but what a fortunate, happy, great time I am having! The crazy part is that along with my "benefits" that I earned through long years of working my hiney off, plus my tax refund, money people owe me, things I need to sell on ebay, bits of fortune that keep turning up, and winnings, I am not losing my emergency fund! I'm pretty much floating right along and treading water. I wonder how long I can tread water and not drown. hehe
I do need medical insurance. It's coming around to time to go see the booty doctor. You don't want to get diagnosed with anything awful while you're off the insurance, but I think I'm healthy.
I still have no clue what I'm going to do when my lease is up at my happy little apartment. I want to stay where I'm at, but I am open to the idea of relocation for the right job. We shall see. Meanwhile, I have been producing clothes like a fiend in second life and they are starting to sell. I have many items on the exchange too. It is a virtual selling market, sort of like ebay, but without time limits. It's not an auction, it's just a market for retail sales. My clothes and my ads are getting better with practice. I only put out clothes I would wear my own self and I am notoriously picky about what my avatar wears. I am filling up my in-world shop. I want to make a sign that says "Buy my clothes or die". But I am thinking that may be a tad too aggressive. haha. I am serious though. If I could make a living selling virtual goods in second life, I would NEVER work in another hospital. I'm trying to get it going. You readers who are also in second life need to come buy my clothes. I have bargain prices right now, but when I get established, I shall be raising the price point. I may post some pics. Matter o fact... here's my latest thing that went up on the exchange:
*SV* Tanks & Blues
I had to learn to make the sale boards too. I thought I had a graphics girl to come in and take my photos and compile them into vendor boards for me, but she kept not showing up and postponing everything and in my all fired hurry to get it going, I had to break down and learn to do it myself. I'm really happy with the way that board turned out. In the game, I load the clothing into the board, along with the landmark to my shop and a notecard thanking the customer for the purchase and when they click the board and pay it, they receive the contents. This package deal is one pair of jeans that you see pictured, and all of the 6 tops. I have a ton of other jeans and shirts to put out and a bunch of cute dresses. Maybe I'll post more. And the model is my own avatar.
And that is what I've been up to.
