There is joy in Teetsville today! Sheer relief and unfettered happiness abound because the bug man came out and after years of stupidly neglecting to treat against termites, my house is not, as I previously feared, about to cave in due to severe chompification of the termite kingdom. There is a small area that has been chewed by the little fartknockers, but that bit of wood is coming out anyway with the remodeling job I am now going to proceed with!!!!!!
There was evidence that the termites are present, but the damage is minimal at this time. I am so incredibly happy about this. I thought they might find severe damage or something.
They are coming out on Thursday to do a thorough termite treatment and start the pest control contract that I already paid in full. They offer financing, but I wanted to save the interest. They gave me the interest, plus 10% discount off the total for paying it up front. It costs less than I thought to do all that. I paid $1,520.00, and that's for everything! I just knew it was going to be over $2,000.00 plus about 35 bucks a month for the non-termite bug treatment. So I was happy about the price. They don't even have to come inside the house anymore. They just go around the outside and it's strong enough to kill the bugs without killing the pets and people. A nice bonus, I might add.
So things are cooking right along with the spring cleaning plan. Got the garbage out, got the bug deal finalized, and I've been cleaning stuff today. Soon I must go forth and procure some bookshelves. I have a ton of books with no home. I have many projects that need to be done. It's kind of overwhelming, but not as bad as before the weekend.
Wow. I dreaded the bug man so bad because I thought everything was going to be much worse than it turned out to be. Ain't that always the way?
The termites had better eat good for the next couple of days, or be packing their bags and getting out, because come Thursday, all the bugs around here are going to be knock knock knocking on heaven's door.
