I made the mistake of gloating about my 4 day weekend and it has backfired on me in a big way.
I did not get one single day to sleep in and lounge around and that is what a long weekend is good for. Resting up and not having to do anything in particular are the things a good long weekend are made of. On Thursday, I had to get up early to get some things done before leaving home to travel to Baton Rouge. I accompanied the Binkster on a trip to take her state board exam for her license as a massage therapist. (She passed!)
Friday morning, we had to get up at the ass crack of dawn to negotiate the ridonkulous traffic in Baton Rouge. We crawled, bumper-to-bumper, over to the state board office right on schedule. We gave ourselves plenty of time to get there. After she solidly kicked the ass of the state board, we left and did some shopping at the outlet mall before returning home.
On Saturday, we were supposed to be at the airport at 5:50am for a 6:50am flight. Bink is going to see her dad and other relatives, far, far away. We missed the flight. I'm the lucky sucker that got to take her to the airport. We set the alarm but it did not go off. We both checked it. It appeared to be set right, but it was silent this morning as we snoozed on like a couple of gals with nothing to do. I stayed over at her place so we could get going quicker. The best laid plans of mice and men...
As a result of this failure to make it today, we have to do the same routine tomorrow. I have to get up in about 4-5 hours to take her to the airport again. So in a 4 day weekend, I didn't get to sleep in once.
As an added bonus, the people I work with called me one time after another the whole time I was on the road. I have had numerous phone calls from different people at both the places in Shreveport that I work for. Phone calls, text messages, voicemails. They really wore it out. I feel like I worked.
But I did have some fun. I will be able to take a nap tomorrow. I'll need it, too. I don't feel like sleeping now. I'm sure I'll be all about sleeping when it's 4:30 and time to get up.
