I am staying home today, because I have done everything I can do for my 2 Shreveport facilities for this week. I have lots of vacation days and I have to use 'em or lose 'em soon. It's rainy, which is good for staying home and relaxing. I love a long weekend.
My 4 year old niece is into the princess scene, hot and heavy. She has a lot of costumes and her favorite thing to do is dress up. I always pretend like I want to wear one of her dresses and she loudly informs me that I have to be the prince or a toad or something, because only she can fit into her dresses.
We had a big row last night about who is a princess and who is not and she told me this in a very smug tone: "I am the princess and you're not... because *I* am wearing a sparkly princess dress and *YOU* are just wearing regular pants and a shirt. Look at yourself!"
She was completely exasperated that I would be so nervy as to claim princess status while wearing pants.
We battled it out for a little while, but then, in a rare show of compassion, she came to me right before she was going to have to go to bed and she put a Chiquita banana sticker on my hand. She said "Mimi, I am giving you this beautiful sticker for you to remember me by and also so you will know that you ARE a beautiful princess, even though you wear regular clothes."
Then she instructed me to wear the sticker always.
Did I mention it's a banana label?
Yeah, that's right, I wore it all night. Princess Chiquita. Lady of the Nanner. Somehow it suits me.
