Last week when I went down south, I took my digital camera along and took the following pictures of a nice old building that I've been seeing for a long time. I've always thought about taking some pictures and now I finally did it. I wish I'd had more time to go all around it and find the best possible shots.
This is the strange and eerie looking building that I pass each time I go down south. It is located just outside Alexandria, Louisiana. It's really in a town called "Pineville". Right next door to this building, and on the same property is the Pineville State Mental Institution. ::start the eerie music:: I *think* that this gnarly old beast used to be the mental institution, back in the day. Notice the lovely sun rays beaming down. I like the magenta one at the right edge.
Here's a closer upper. Those turbines on top have very interesting details and there are weather vanes on there. I couldn't get close enough to get a really good shot of them.
This is the back side of the building. It looks different from this angle and the paint seems less worn on this side. I should have taken another shot of that pretty tree on the right.
And even mo' closer still. You can't tell from these pictures, but this building is sitting on top of a pretty steep hill for Louisiana. It overlooks a body of water and a highway. From the road it seems very high up.
There are lots of things I'd like to stop and take pictures of during my travels. Sooner or later, I'll get them all photographed and posted.
Goodnight, Gentle Reader.
