I love a weekend. I wish that I could work 3 days a week instead of 5. I need work, but I don't need quite so much of it. I really like my job. It's very hectic and many days it takes me every single bit of my 8 hours to get it all done. I often work late on Mondays and Tuesdays, catching up from the weekend admits and discharges. But I am happiest at work when I am busy. I detest having to kill time during a work day. Having time to be bored is no fun. Because of my hectic work days, the time is just flying by so fast. I can't believe September is 2/3 of the way over. My birthday is coming up already. Autumn is my favorite season and I am soooo looking forward to the weather change. I like cool weather, colored leaves, and spicy scents. And pumpkins. Definitely pumpkins.

My continuing obsession is the music of Maynard James Keenan, of Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer. I love all 3 of course, but right now I am mostly hung up on Tool. My all time favorite song is "H" by Tool, but I always have a Tool song that I have to hear over and over. Which Tool song I am listening to repetitively changes about every 6 weeks, I would guess. Right now I am utterly taken with the song "Lateralus". The 9th track on the Lateralus CD. Everyone should go pull it up on you tube and listen - really listen to that song and hear the lyrics with your spirit. It inspires me all the way to tears when I listen to it. If you pull up the lyrics and read along, you might see why I feel this way about it. The words are genius and the way the song itself is musically laid out builds to a big crescendo and totally manipulates my emotions. This song follows the Fibonacci sequence in its rhythm and you should google "lateralus fibonacci" and read the wiki site about it, and whatever else is there just to get the full scoop on that shizz. I am so amazed that Maynard was able to put together gorgeous lyrics, music, meaning, and make it match a mathematical sequence! Maynard is the coolest person on earth.

Here are some of the lyrics that inspire me:

I embrace my desire to...
I embrace my desire to...
feel the rhythm,
to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow,
to feel inspired,
to fathom the power,
to witness the beauty,
to bathe in the fountain,
to swing on the spiral,
to swing on the spiral,
to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human.

It is after that part where it starts building towards the big crescendo. I love that song so much.

I've been paying attention to a lot of the Tool lyrics lately and you can see a progression of Maynard working through his issues and coming into a better place over the course of time in making the albums.

Or... maybe I just like Tool.
